Skin Wars

IMG_3376.JPG

Hello my lovely blog readers! I decided to make a video post about skincare. I have been dealing with oily skin lately with some breakouts that I would like to ease up. I am beginning to get a handle on various remedies and good eating habits to combat the issue.

Food for thought

Food for thought

Food brings people together. It is a known fact that on any given occasion if food is involved people will gather, have conversations, laugh, and yes, eat. In my family if nothing else is constant eating at the dinner table together is steady and tradition. Yesterday on the last day of September it was a bright and sunny day which put me in a upbeat and great mood. I visited my newborn cousin Cash who will be two weeks old tomorrow, his skin so soft and he smelled like lavender to me or something very light yet noticeable.

My mood led me to want to prepare dinner for my family, I decided on chicken fajitas a quick meal and fun for the great weather the day brought. For the “Living” section here’s a short video of how food makes a day more cheerful. Dinner is served!

Scream then shout!

September is just about over, can’t believe it! This new week on Labels, Love, and Living will focus on taking situations and potential opportunities by the horns, grabbing on tight and making it count. It is imperative that we utilize the precious time we are given and really be bold in our decisions. Spontaneous is not quite in my D.N.A. but I am learning that taking a gigantic leap of faith isn’t necessarily a crazy thing to do. No more excuses, I have no room for it and neither should you. Scream it, claim it, then shout that it’s yours!

Let’s conquer this week and beyond with courage and a daring attitude to improve. Check out the Living and Love section for my weekend roundup and my goals moving forward. Plus, take this poll below!

“Fall” back in

fall back

Fall has arrived, hard to believe yet not really. The months have been a blur since the ball dropped for the new year of 2014. But really, where has the time gone?! Well I guess the answer is simply that, it is gone, a memory. And as we focus on the present it can be hard to deal with the speed of time especially if you’re asking yourself, “What have I achieved?” or thinking, “I still didn’t get to that.” I for one have hit a rough patch, too often obsessing about time and freaking out if I don’t get something done. Then I begin to feel I am somehow delayed and therefore a champion of procrastination.

True, there really isn’t THAT much time in the day and as long as you try your hardest that’s all that should matter. But I get anxious, more than I have ever experienced, so as the days go on and the months have breezed by I am scared. Somehow I put myself on this imaginary countdown that says I should have done a task or goal by a certain time. I came into the new year ready and so eager.

When February rolled in I would say to myself, “Ok, by April you’ll have the job you’ll love.” April arrived and left. Then it was May, then July, and now it is almost October. I am still waiting and I feel I have been patient, and even when slowed down I have tried to maintain a lifestyle where I keep busy and positive. So as the new season is officially here I yearn to “fall” back into a healthier me, a me that didn’t allow fear to lead.

I came across a video I recorded on April 8, 2011 and I talk about the inevitable “5 years from now” question. It looked like it stemmed from research for my graduate thesis project. It is interesting today three years older looking at myself wondering if now I am the same. How have I changed and how can I get recharged to continue to believe?

Hello September, is that you?

IMG_2995-0.PNG

September has arrived and the fall weather is near. The air is changing to a cooler breeze and some people, me included, are experiencing allergy symptoms. The fall weather also brings forth a change in your wardrobe attire and possibly your love life. Social media sites and clever users are proclaiming it “cuffing season,” which could mean a couple of things literally and figuratively. On the social media side folks are expressing that because the weather is beginning to turn cooler more people will be “shacking up” or “getting together” for the fall/winter seasons. So supposedly a limited amount of single girls and guys alike will be taken. Supposedly.

This week on Labels, Love, and Living posts will focus on fall fashions, love in hopeful and hopeless places, and healthy daily regimens. Get your reading and inspiration on within these three sections by clicking on Labels, Love, and Living.

Welcome to Labels, Love, and Living!

Cheers to a brand new start of revamping ourselves and what we stand for. My name is Elishia, and I am happy to bring my writing interests full circle with this new website! Special thanks to my sister who gave me the bright and fabulous idea to tie all of my blogs into one whole site. Why didn’t I think of this before? I guess I was thinking too literal about it and not logical because I was indeed driving myself crazy trying to handle my many blogs, a continued job search, AND remain sane within my daily life. So, with that said let me briefly explain what the site, the links for each section are above on the website.

Labels imageLabels

This section will focus on my adventures of shopping while on a budget and also sharing great deals with you fashionistas. My work on Examiner.com is evidence that I have a knack for smart shopping.

Love

For this section the main focus is yes, love. My alias name being “The Black Carrie Bradshaw” (a blog I recently started) is a clever way to describe what these posts will be about. Making comparisons to my love life (when I have one), or the dating scene, I try to relate to the character Carrie Bradshaw from the popular television show Sex and the City.

Living

This section will be geared toward health, maintaining a positive lifestyle, and the overall importance of your mental wellness. I began writing for this topic on my blog “Hello Healthy Heart” and will continue the postings here.

Thank you for reading, more to come!
